I've always loved makeup. The first piece of makeup my mom ever got me was a powder foundation, which I was thrilled to receive, but it took off in junior high when I started using eyeliner.
It's fun for me to look back at these and see how much I've grown. I'll be continuing to post all the palettes I've made up until now and then I'll just continue to post them as I make them.
I know my mom wasn't thrilled with the escalation, but I loved it. I thought eyeliner was beautiful and I wanted lots of it. So through all of junior high, and maybe a bit of high school, I wore foundation, powder, eyeliner, and mascara. Maybe even a bit of black eyeshadow every once in a while.
Then in high school I branched out. I loved shimmery, loose eyeshadow powders and my BH cosmetics rainbow palette. You probably know the ones. I saw them online sometime around 2008 and I had to buy it! And I used the crap out of it. I took it to college with me and would even do my roommates' makeup for Halloweens or fun events and things we were doing.
When I became a mom, I pretty much stopped wearing makeup. Becoming a mom was hard for me and I didn't get out much. But when I had my second, I realized that I felt so crappy and makeup always helped lift my spirits. Plus it gave me time for myself. I started fresh, watched reviews on YouTube, and picked up all new makeup based on recommendations I found.
Eventually I found BoxyCharm and Ipsy, then I got into Colourpop - right around the time they started their BYOP feature. I ended up getting a decent amount of single shadows and loved using them and putting things together myself. Then I depotted some palettes... then I went on an 8 month no-buy. During that time I joined Instagram for support and learned more about all the indie eyeshadows out there.
I've now realized that's where my true love lies. I love makeup - doing it, looking at it, swatching it... all the things. But my true passion and love comes from making my own palettes. And I want to have a place where I can have an archive of them all.
But this first post will be my first ones. Back when I was just learning and more into neutrals than I am now. And mostly before I had indie eyeshadows.
From now on, I probably won't have much written in the posts. I really just want this to be a simple archive that doesn't take too much time. But I thought I'd give an intro to who I am and what got me here.
